Want to boost your students’ motivation and connect course content to their career goals or real-world applications? Take your assessments to the next level by making them authentic! Authentic assignments ask students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems and situations. In this workshop, participants will identify examples of authentic assessments relevant to their discipline and course, and will be introduced to a framework for designing meaningful, real-world tasks for assessing student learning.
While the workshop is designed with adjunct faculty in mind (particularly those interested in enhancing their teaching practices and building connections with peers) all instructors are welcome to attend.
After this workshop you will be able to:
- Describe the benefits of using authentic assessments
- Identify examples of authentic assessments in your discipline and course
- Apply the GRASPS framework to develop authentic assessments

After registering for a remote workshop, you will receive a confirmation email of your registration that includes the workshop link. Please save this message. Also, you will have the option to add the event, which includes the Zoom link for the workshop, to your Google calendar.
