Join us for lunch and to talk with Dr. Steven Pentland (Department of Information Technology and Supply Chain Management) about integrating oral assignments and exams into your course. Dr. Pentland will demonstrate how to use Rhetorix Lab, a platform that leverages asynchronous video capture to assess student learning. In addition to helping students develop their oral communication skills, Rhetorix Lab provides an alternative to traditional written assignments that are increasingly vulnerable to generative AI tools, helping ensure authentic assessment of student understanding. You'll see examples of oral assignments created by other Boise State faculty, and the student work that was produced, as well as have time to brainstorm ideas for how you might use this tool in your course.

A selection of sandwiches and salads will be available for those attending this session in person. We will have dairy and gluten free options available, as well as vegetarian/vegan food. If you have a dietary need outside of that, please let us know at least a week ahead of the session. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch/snack!

This is a hybrid event, offered both in person and online. Please note the address if you plan to attend in person, and the Zoom link if you plan to attend virtually. After registering for a hybrid workshop, you will have the option to add the event, which includes the Zoom link for the workshop, to your Google calendar. Also, you will receive a confirmation email of your registration that also includes the workshop link.
