In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, we will host a campus awareness event focused on educating students about domestic violence and showing support for survivors. During the event, students will distribute purple ribbon pins and “Stop Domestic Violence” stickers to fellow students, faculty, and staff throughout campus. The purple ribbon is a symbol of domestic violence awareness and serves as a reminder that everyone has a role in creating a community where relationships are built on respect, safety, and equality. By wearing a purple ribbon or displaying a sticker, members of the campus community can show their support for survivors and stand together against domestic violence. The event will also provide students with an opportunity to learn more about domestic violence, recognize unhealthy relationship behaviors, and become familiar with resources available to individuals experiencing or affected by domestic violence. Our goal is to create a supportive and informed campus community while encouraging students to speak up, support one another, and help end the cycle of violence.
