eCampus Center on CampusGroups

CampusGroups is the Boise State University's platform to register for events of all kinds for both staff and students. The eCampus Center uses this platform to offer training opportunities. Our primary focus is to offer opportunities for faculty who teach, or will be teaching, classes online at Boise State.

To help support this, eCampus Center offers certificates and microcredentials through our Faculty Development team.

CampusGroups is new to Boise State University, and anything new involves a learning curve. We've tried to help curate a few resources to help you navigate this platform here.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • I was registering for faculty development in Canvas Catalog. Can I still do that?

Starting Fall, 2024 all of the eCampus Center faculty development offerings will be listed on CampusGroups. We will no longer be listing our offerings in Canvas Catalog.

  • Do I still take courses and seminars in Canvas?

Yes! Most of our faculty development offerings do still have a Canvas course associated with them. You'll notice towards the bottom of the description for those events that it explicitly says to enroll in the Canvas course. Once you register in CampusGroups, you will be automatically directed to the Canvas course to self- enroll. You will also receive the self- enrollment link in your confirmation email.

Our seminars and courses have graded assignments in them that can only be done in the Canvas course. If you aren't registered in the Canvas course, then you can't participate and will not earn credit.

  • What about my certificate progress? Where is that?

Prior to Fall, 2024, faculty who participated in our offerings received a Google Doc that tracked their progress towards their certificates.

Now, in CampusGroups you can track your progress in the 'My Checklists' feature under 'My Activities' on your home page.

You can also click here to view your checklists.

  • How do I earn an eCampus Center Faculty Development certificate?

Great question, and we're glad you are interested in learning more about them. You can read about our certificates here.

When you are ready to enroll in a certificate through CampusGroups, it couldn't be easier. On the eCampus Center About page, towards the bottom on the right-hand side, you will see several checkboxes under the heading 'Sub-Groups'. Simply check the box next to the credential you want to earn.

  • What else does enrolling in a certificate do?

Once you enroll in a certificate through CampusGroups you will be automatically put into that certificate's 'Channel'. Think of the channels as a social media thread. You can post to ther faculty members trying to earn the same certificate you are. We also post upcoming offerings required to earn your certificate, so you don't miss them

  • Can I see every upcoming event that eCampus Center offers?

Probably not. Some of our courses are restricted to faculty who are in the Intermediate or Advanced certificate tracks (meaning they've already earned one or more certificates).  If you aren't in that group, you will not be able to see those offerings. But keep working on your certificates. Before you know it you'll be on your way to earning more advanced certificates and will be able to see and attend everything!

  • I can't see any events. Why not?

Be sure that you are logged in to CampusGroups. Our faculty development events can only be seen and registered by people logged into CampusGroups with a boisestate.edu address. This helps us prevent students and people from outside the institution enroll in our offerings.
