Daily Prayer Room Usage Instructions and Etiquette (Not applicable for Jummah prayer)
The MSA at BSU reserves prayer spaces near the on-campus apartment complexes (Village and Heights) for Maghrib, Esha, and Fajr prayers to facilitate and encourage daily congregational worship. These spaces are reserved on a monthly basis and may not be available during certain periods. Updates regarding availability and prayer schedule are shared via email and the On-Campus Prayer Updates Channel in Campus Groups.
Location: The locations of the prayer events are provided in the Campus Groups Events and in the MSA at BSU google calendar.
Please find the instructions and etiquette for using these rooms below.
- Adhan (Call to Prayer): If you are making the Adhan, please do it outside the building in a free public space. Do not call the Adhan inside the building under any circumstances.
- Updating Group Members: If you made the Adhan or see someone making it, kindly use the designated channel to notify members by creating a new conversation to inform them that the Adhan has been called.
- Prayer Room Door: The prayer room door must remain closed while in use.
- Shoes: Leave your shoes at the door. Wearing socks is encouraged.
- Prayer Mats: Please bring your own prayer mat so that others may use it if needed.
- Joining Jama’ah: If you see an ongoing Jama’ah (congregational prayer), please join it. Otherwise, feel free to form your own Jama’ah so that others can join. It is encouraged to start the Iqamah at the designated times.
- Access: Only members of the MSA at BSU may use the prayer room. Immediate family members who are not MSA members may use the prayer room as guests, provided they are escorted by an MSA member.
- Classroom Reminder: Please note that the rooms booked for daily prayers are classrooms and should be treated respectfully.
- Building Access: You will need your BSU ID card to access the buildings and the booked rooms. Your BSU ID should work at any of the entrances of the buildings and in the elevators. If it does not then please contact Public Safety to get access.
